Zelensky added: We are working to put the level of support commitments on paper by the end of this year as well as for the next 10 years. This support includes military, financial and political assistance as well as issues related to the joint production of weapons.

Ukraine has already concluded a bilateral security agreement with several NATO member states, including England, Germany and France. Zelensky claimed that he intends to make this long-term agreement with Washington the strongest agreement that Kiev has signed with Western countries.

However, Ukraine’s bilateral agreements with Western countries have so far lacked mutual defense obligations. In these agreements, only the promise of long-term help is given in the event of an attack in the future, and usually it is not binding. For example, the agreement with Berlin can be terminated with a 6-month notice!

But Zelensky has said he wants a bilateral agreement with Washington to include certain levels of aid. In this regard, he has said: This agreement should be a model and reflection of America’s leadership power in the literal sense of the word.

US lawmakers approved another $61 billion aid package for Ukraine earlier this month. Republicans in the US House of Representatives said about the delay in approving this package that Biden, without any clear strategy for the victory of Ukraine or the country’s peace with Russia, is only seeking to prolong the bloodshed.
