Iraqi Lawmaker Warns Against Turkish Government’s Moves Inside the Country
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency adn Almaalomah, Fadel Al-Muslemani, a member of Iraq’s fatah Alliance in parliament, emphasized that the Turkish government is seeking to re-highlight Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of terrorist groups controlling Syria, in a new form to serve its political interests.
he added: This country is attempting to alter al-Julani’s terrorist image and create a political cover for him. Ankara does not respect Iraq’s political sovereignty and interferes in our country’s internal affairs.
Al-Muslemani further stated: The military operations by Turkish forces inside Iraqi territory under the pretext of fighting terrorism are, in reality, part of an expansionist agenda threatening our nation’s security and stability.
He noted: The Turkish government aims to replicate the “al-Julani model” in Iraq; this move constitutes a direct threat to our national sovereignty and security.
