UAE Officers Flee Yemen’s Al-Mukalla Port Following Saudi-Led Coalition Airstrike

Emirati officers stationed at Yemen’s Al-Mukalla port evacuated after a Saudi-led coalition airstrike targeted heavy weapons depots, as reconnaissance flights continue over Hadhramaut.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, informed sources told Al-Mayadeen that UAE officers abandoned Al-Mukalla port in Yemen’s Hadhramaut province following a morning airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition. The attack reportedly destroyed warehouses containing medium and heavy weapons transferred from the UAE.

The Saudi-led coalition confirmed targeting unauthorized military supply lines at the port, tracking two ships that had arrived from Fujairah, UAE, on Saturday and Sunday without official clearance. Coalition forces stated the vessels had disabled their tracking systems while unloading weapons to support the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Clashes between Saudi and Emirati-aligned forces have intensified in eastern Yemen’s oil-rich regions, particularly Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra. The STC, formed in 2017 with UAE support, maintains control of strategic areas despite Saudi demands for withdrawal to de-escalate tensions. The U.S. has expressed concern over the growing rift between coalition partners.
