Iran Unveils New Satellite Control Center and Advances in Space Technology

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Dr. Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency, announced the inauguration of the Salmas Satellite Control and Data Receiving Center during a press conference on Space Technology Day. The center, located in northwestern Iran, is strategically positioned to enhance satellite communication and data retrieval capabilities.
Salarieh highlighted that the Salmas facility will increase access to satellites passing over western Iran, improving data transmission speeds and operational stability. He also revealed plans to inaugurate the Chenaran Satellite Center in the coming weeks, which will further expand Iran’s satellite communication network in the eastern region.
Among other achievements, Iran unveiled the first corrected images from the Paya satellite, which provides 10-meter resolution in color and 5-meter in black-and-white. These images are expected to aid in agriculture, water resource management, urban planning, and environmental monitoring.
Additionally, Iran showcased a test model of the Martyr Soleimani Satellite Constellation, a system of 24 satellites designed for IoT and sensor data collection, set for launch in 2025. Salarieh also confirmed the upcoming launch of the Nahid-2 telecommunications satellite, with final compatibility tests currently underway.
