Kabul Assures Moscow of Swift Resolution to Pakistan Border Clashes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Rustam Khabibullin, head of the Russian Trade Center in Afghanistan, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that the Afghan side has provided assurances that the conflict with Pakistan will not be protracted. He further warned that if the clashes persist, all Russian investment projects in Afghanistan would be adversely affected.
Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have intensified in recent days, with both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire and initiating hostilities. Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Afghan interim government, emphasized that “Kabul does not seek to expand the conflict,” adding that Afghanistan possesses the capability to respond at a similar level but will not tolerate any infringement on its sovereignty.
Conversely, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Afghan officials to end the “impunity” that allows terrorists to continue their actions. Last Thursday, the Afghan interim government announced an escalation of military operations along the Durand Line, which demarcates the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan in the provinces of Paktia, Khost, Kunar, and Nangarhar.
