Iraq’s Foreign Ministry Urges Restraint Amidst Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Clashes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced it is monitoring the security developments and dangerous conflicts in the border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan, expressing apprehension over the heightened tensions in the region.
Baghdad, while expressing deep regret over these clashes, emphasized that exercising self-restraint and adopting approaches of dialogue and political solutions to resolve differences are crucial for strengthening regional security and stability.
The ministry urged the involved parties to strive for de-escalation through diplomatic channels.
Previously, the spokesperson for the Pakistani army had stated that the country had exercised its right to legitimate defense, destroying 73 border posts with Afghanistan and gaining control over 18 centers. He claimed that all targeted locations were subjected to military strikes, resulting in the deaths of 274 Taliban officials and elements.
On the other hand, Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Afghan government, accused Pakistan of violating airspace and targeting civilians, asserting Kabul’s right to legitimate defense.
