Italy Advocates for Independent European Defense System Amidst Ukraine Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Italy’s Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, has indicated that Ukraine’s full accession to the European Union would likely be highly challenging and could precipitate a serious crisis within the agricultural sectors of numerous European nations.
Crosetto suggested that instead of full EU membership for Ukraine, consideration should be given to establishing a more extensive European defense system. This proposed system would extend beyond the current boundaries of the European Union, encompassing not only member states but also Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Balkan countries.
Recent threats from the United States regarding potential withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have spurred European nations to increase their defense budgets. This development has consequently driven them to pursue more independent and national security systems.
