Lebanese President Vows to Continue Negotiations, Criticizes Israeli Stance

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reiterated the nation’s commitment to diplomatic negotiations as a safer alternative to conflict, while also accusing Israel of failing to adhere to ceasefire agreements and continue its military operations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun emphasized that negotiations are a more secure path than war, stating that diplomacy requires time and that Lebanon has no other option. He affirmed that the country will not abandon the option of negotiation.

The Lebanese President further clarified that the Lebanese army has not declared the southern region as free of weapons. He stated that the Lebanese army has fulfilled its missions regarding disarmament.

Aoun stressed that Israel has not contributed to the implementation of the ceasefire. He noted that Israel was supposed to vacate five points but continued its military operations under the pretext of self-defense.

This comes amidst reports from the Israeli newspaper Maariv, which cited an Israeli military source claiming that the Israeli army is currently preparing an extensive list of targets ahead of launching attacks on the southern suburb of Beirut.
