Kuwait Suspend Flights After Iranian Drone Attack on Airport Amid Escalating Strait of Hormuz Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kuwait‘s Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that a passenger terminal at the country’s airport was targeted by Iranian drones and missiles, activating emergency protocols in the region. Data published by Mehr News Agency, citing the official Kuwaiti News Agency, indicated that Kuwait International Airport has become a base for the U.S. Department of War’s military activities.
Saud Al-Atwan, spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, confirmed that Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport was hit by a drone. This incident follows official statements from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) regarding retaliatory strikes against U.S. military assets in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
In a powerful official statement, the IRGC announced that its missile and drone units struck the U.S. Fifth Fleet’s naval command center and several other bases in response to “dangerous adventurism and acts of terrorism by the U.S. military in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.” The statement detailed that late last night, the U.S. “aggressor military” targeted an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to its engine room. In retaliation for this “blatant violation of international regulations,” a vessel named ‘Panaya,’ belonging to the “American-Zionist enemy,” was immediately targeted by the IRGC Navy’s precision missiles.
The statement further alleged that the U.S. military, in another act of aggression, targeted an IRGC telecommunications tower south of Qeshm Island with aerial projectiles. In response to this “folly,” the IRGC’s Aerospace Force launched a heavy combined missile and drone attack on the U.S. air and helicopter base located in a regional country, as well as the command center of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, inflicting significant damage on the enemy.
The IRGC reiterated prior warnings, stating that any aggression would be met with a “different, surprising, and much heavier response,” a promise they claim to have fulfilled. The statement concluded with a warning that disrupting the security of the “world’s energy lifeline (Strait of Hormuz)” will result in “heavy consequences” for the U.S. aggressor military.
