Israel Warns US-Iran Deal Threatens Core Security Interests

Senior Israeli officials have voiced strong concerns that the impending agreement between the United States and Iran poses a significant threat to Israel’s fundamental security interests, with key Israeli objectives reportedly not fully addressed. The Israeli government has expressed alarm over the potential implications for regional stability and Iran’s growing influence.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli officials have expressed grave concerns that an agreement nearing finalization between the United States and Iran will undermine the core security interests of the Israeli regime. This assessment, reported by Israel’s Channel 12, indicates that the U.S. has accepted crucial Iranian conditions, leaving key Israeli objectives unaddressed in the emerging deal.

Israeli officials elaborated to Channel 12 that the agreement does not obligate Iran to cease its support for regional proxy forces and could even allow for renewed ties with Hezbollah. They cautioned that the deal would immediately facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and bolster Iran’s sovereignty, particularly with Iran’s nuclear capabilities slated for future review.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz also reported significant Israeli anxiety regarding the timeline established within the new agreement. Israeli officials warned that the 60-day negotiation period might favor Tehran, allowing for diplomatic maneuvering during the transition phase. A senior Israeli official was quoted by the newspaper emphasizing that Tel Aviv had limited influence over the decision-making process that brought the negotiations to their current stage.

Beyond these concerns, Israeli officials questioned Washington’s ability to leverage the agreement to compel Tehran to significantly reduce or eliminate its enriched uranium reserves. Israeli circles underscored that it remains unclear whether the agreement adequately addresses critical issues central to Israel’s war aims, including curbing Iran’s ballistic missile program and severing ties between Tehran and Hezbollah.
