Swiss Summit Mediators to Discuss Lebanon Peace, Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s Nuclear Program

Mediators convening in Switzerland will engage in consultations regarding mechanisms for monitoring the peace process in Lebanon, followed by discussions on the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program, according to a political source cited by the Financial Times.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mediators at the Swiss summit will consult on mechanisms for monitoring the peace process in Lebanon, as reported by the Financial Times, citing a political source. The discussions will then shift to the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program.

Earlier, an Iranian official stated that ending the conflict in Lebanon is the most critical item on the Iranian delegation’s agenda. The delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and identified by insignia Minab 168, arrived in Zurich on Saturday evening local time to participate in the Bürgenstock conferences concerning the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.

Accompanying the head of the Iranian delegation on this trip are Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ali Bagheri, Deputy for International Affairs of the Supreme National Security Council Secretariat; Abdolnaser Hemmati, Governor of the Central Bank; Hamid Bourd, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company; Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy for Legal and International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ismail Baqaei, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Concurrently, American officials have also arrived in Switzerland for these consultations. Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy, and Jared Kushner are among the figures present at the negotiations.

In addition to the two parties, representatives from mediating countries are also present in Switzerland. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, consulted with Ignazio Cassis, the Swiss Foreign Minister, prior to the start of the sessions regarding the latest developments related to the Tehran-Washington agreement. Reports also indicate the travel of Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, to Switzerland. Qatar and Pakistan are considered key players in shaping the Islamabad understanding and facilitating communications between Iran and the United States.
