Israeli Media Suggests Tel Aviv Pushing Lebanon Towards Civil War

An Israeli television channel has suggested that Tel Aviv is intentionally steering Lebanon toward internal conflict, a move it posits could benefit Israel by pitting the Lebanese government against Hezbollah. This perspective emerges following the recent signing of a framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel‘s Channel 13 television network has stated that Tel Aviv appears to be pushing Lebanon towards a civil war. The network suggested that such a scenario might not be unfavorable for Israel, envisioning a conflict where the Lebanese government battles Hezbollah, a supposed initial objective.

This Israeli media outlet reported that the recently brokered framework agreement, facilitated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, designates the Lebanese army as responsible for disarming Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The channel interpreted this development, stating, “This literally means: Lebanese must fight Lebanese, and Israel watches from behind the borders. This is a civil war created under the guise of peace.”

However, an analyst from the same Israeli network conceded that forcing the Lebanese army to engage with Hezbollah before it is sufficiently strong could lead to its collapse.

Representatives from the Western-aligned Lebanese government and the Israeli regime signed a framework agreement yesterday, following the fifth round of negotiations that spanned four days and were mediated by the United States. The agreement was signed in the presence of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Lebanon’s Ambassador to Washington Nadi Hamadeh, and Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Litman.
