Venezuela Earthquake Toll Climbs to 1,719 Fatalities

The Speaker of Venezuela’s Parliament announced that the death toll from a recent earthquake has reached 1,719, with over 5,000 others injured. International rescue teams from 17 nations are being deployed to assist in search operations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuela’s Parliament Speaker has announced that the number of fatalities from a recent earthquake in the country has risen to 1,719. He further stated that 5,034 individuals were injured in the two seismic events.

Earlier reports from Al Arabiya indicated that the United Nations estimated the number of missing persons from these earthquakes to exceed 50,000. The international body confirmed on Friday that rescue teams from 17 countries would be deployed to participate in search and rescue efforts in Venezuela.

The powerful earthquakes in Venezuela registered magnitudes exceeding 7 on the Richter scale. Reports also indicate that a significant number of buildings in Venezuela suffered severe damage following the tremors.
