Pakistan Senate Chairman Arrives in Tehran for Martyr Leader’s Funeral

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, on November 26, 2026, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, arrived in Tehran ahead of the farewell and funeral ceremony for the martyred leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Gilani stated that he is carrying messages of solidarity from the representatives of the Pakistani Parliament and expressed his belief that the leadership and valuable services of His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will always endure in the Islamic world.
The first high-level delegation from Pakistan, led by the Chairman of its Senate, departed for Tehran today. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, accompanied by Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (both from the Pakistan Peoples Party), left Islamabad for Tehran.
Additionally, public groups from Pakistan have also departed for Tehran to participate in the ceremony.
The Chairman of the Pakistani Senate explained that this visit is aimed at demonstrating the complete solidarity of the people, parliament, and government of Pakistan with the people and parliament of Iran. He further stated that he is carrying messages of solidarity and sympathy from the parliamentarians of his country to their Iranian brothers and sisters.
Gilani added, “We are deeply saddened and affected by the martyrdom of the late Ayatollah Al-Ozma Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and we extend our condolences to all the people of Iran, especially the government and the members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.”
Gilani described the martyred Ayatollah Khamenei as a leader with exceptional insight and wisdom who guided his country with pride, honor, and respect.
He remarked that with his martyrdom, not only has Iran lost a great leader, but Pakistan has lost a true friend, and the entire Islamic Ummah is mourning the loss of a wise and insightful leader.
The Senate Chairman of Pakistan emphasized that the services, leadership, and role of the martyred Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for the Islamic world will always be remembered.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan also announced today that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Tehran tomorrow, leading a high-level delegation to participate in the official ceremony to pay respects to His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the late leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
