Afghan Delegation to Attend Farewell Ceremony for Martyred Leader in Tehran

A special delegation from Afghanistan’s interim government, led by Economic Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, is set to travel to Tehran to participate in the farewell and burial ceremonies for the martyred leader.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Afghan media outlets have reported that a special delegation representing the country’s interim government will travel to Tehran to attend the farewell and burial ceremonies for the martyred leader.

The delegation will be headed by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Economic Deputy Prime Minister of the Afghan interim administration. Discussions regarding the final composition of the delegation are ongoing.

Sources indicate that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar’s travel plans are in the final stages, and the detailed list of delegation members will be announced soon. Diplomatic coordination between Kabul and the Iranian embassy is underway to facilitate the visit.

Earlier, in late June, Alireza Bikdeli, the interim head of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, met with Abdul Wasey, the head of the Prime Minister’s office for the Afghan interim government. During the meeting, Bikdeli emphasized the deep ties between the two nations and expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity shown by the Afghan government and people during times of conflict.

Abdul Wasey, in turn, underscored the strong and inseparable relationship between Kabul and Tehran as two neighboring Islamic countries.

At the conclusion of that meeting, Bikdeli presented an invitation to the Afghan interim administration to attend the funeral procession of the martyred leader.
