Iraq Mobilizes Buses for Martyr Leader’s Funeral Procession

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting Shafaq News, Iraq has issued instructions to allocate buses with capacities ranging from 11 to 50 passengers. These vehicles are designated for transporting mourners to the funeral procession of the martyred leader of the nation. The ceremonies are scheduled to take place in the holy provinces of Najaf and Karbala.
The aforementioned source added that these directives encompass all administrative units and relevant ministries as part of the logistical preparations for holding the funeral ceremonies. The Supreme Committee for Organizing the Funeral of the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq announced on Thursday that the funeral procession for the late Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be held in the holy provinces of Najaf and Karbala. A massive public turnout, potentially reaching millions, is expected to participate in these ceremonies.
According to Iraqi officials, the body of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is scheduled to be transferred from the city of Qom to Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf International Airport on July 8, 2026 (Tir 17, 1405). Following this, it will be taken to the shrine of Imam Ali (PBUH) for the funeral and farewell ceremonies.
Subsequently, the procession will move to Karbala. There, a large-scale public funeral will be held in the area between the two holy shrines. After being transferred to the shrines of Abul Fadl al-Abbas (PBUH) and Imam Hussein (PBUH), the body will return to Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Airport to be transported to the holy city of Mashhad for burial at the shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH).
