Russia Reports Repelling Combined Ukrainian Assault; Civilian Casualties in Bryansk and Crimea

Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced it thwarted a large-scale, combined nighttime assault by Ukrainian forces utilizing missiles, HIMARS, and drones. Meanwhile, civilian casualties were reported following drone attacks in Russia’s Bryansk region and Crimea.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Ministry of Defense stated on Tuesday that its forces successfully repelled a significant combined nighttime assault launched by Ukraine. The Ukrainian forces employed Flamingo missiles, HIMARS systems, and drones in the offensive, which targeted Russian territory.

The ministry’s statement indicated that over 500 aerial targets, including ten Flamingo cruise missiles, were intercepted and destroyed. Russian air defenses reportedly neutralized an attack intended by Ukrainian President Zelensky to divert attention from what Russia described as a defeat in Konstantinovka. The report also highlighted that approximately 13,000 projectiles and aerial targets, supported by numerous European nations including the United Kingdom, were shot down over Russia in June. Moscow warned that attempts by Ukraine to damage Russian civilian infrastructure would not go unanswered.

In separate incidents, Yegor Kovalchuk, the acting governor of Russia’s Bryansk region, reported that a civilian was killed and two others were injured following Ukrainian drone attacks on a residential building in the Bzhitsky district of Bryansk. Serhiy Aksyonov, head of Crimea, announced that one person was killed and two others, including a 10-year-old child, were injured in a nighttime attack by Ukrainian armed forces on the peninsula.

Mikhail Galuzin, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, told RIA Novosti that Latvia and other Baltic states have provided air corridors for Ukrainian attacks against Russian civilian infrastructure. He characterized Latvia’s plans to establish a drone production facility on its border with Russia as a provocative action consistent with the country’s hostile stance toward Moscow.

Separately, General Sergey Rudskoy, Deputy Chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff, announced that Russian forces had liberated the strategic city of Konstantinovka in Donetsk as a result of active offensive operations by the Southern Group of Russian forces. Konstantinovka, described as a major industrial and logistical hub and one of the strongest defensive lines for the Ukrainian armed forces, was considered a key gateway to Ukraine’s last strongholds in the Donbas. The city was the seventh-largest administrative center in Donbas by area and population. Ukraine had reportedly committed significant forces, including seven brigades totaling 45 battalions and up to 15,500 soldiers, to defend Konstantinovka. During the liberation operation, Ukraine lost an estimated 13,500 soldiers, 14 tanks, 283 armored combat vehicles, 1,400 vehicles, 200 field artillery pieces, and eight multiple rocket launchers.
