Russia Eyes Further Talks with U.S. on Ukraine Crisis

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that further high-level discussions with the United States regarding the Ukraine crisis are anticipated, while also noting the U.S. appears to be distancing itself from the resolution process.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov announced on Monday that a new phone conversation between President Putin and President Trump in the near future is not out of the question, and that discussions will continue at the highest levels. Ryabkov indicated that Russia will be monitoring the United States’ stance on Ukraine following the NATO summit in Ankara. He also confirmed that the planned visit of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, envoys from the White House, to Russia remains on the agenda.

The Russian deputy foreign minister further commented that the United States is currently stepping away from the process of resolving the Ukraine crisis. He suggested that opponents of a resolution to the conflict are attempting to exploit the current U.S. position on finding a solution.
