US Central Command Claims New Strikes on Southern Iran

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has asserted it conducted a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran on July 7, targeting over 80 sites in response to recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CENTCOM has claimed to have carried out new offensive actions against Iran. The U.S. military stated that its forces hit more than 80 targets using precision-guided munitions, including air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and over 60 small boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

CENTCOM alleges these strikes, conducted on July 7, were in immediate response to Iran’s latest attacks on commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The command asserted that the goal was to degrade Iran’s capacity to continue attacking international trade within this vital global shipping corridor.

The U.S. military further claimed that Iran had recently attacked three commercial vessels traversing the strait: the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker MT Al-Rakiya, the Saudi Arabia-flagged tanker MT Vadean, and the Liberia-flagged tanker MT Cypress Prosperity. CENTCOM characterized these alleged Iranian actions as aggressive, unjustified, a clear and dangerous violation of the ceasefire, and undermining freedom of navigation.

CENTCOM added that its forces remain on alert and ready to hold Iran accountable should it fail to adhere to or act upon any agreements.
