Oil Prices Surge Amid Renewed Regional Tensions Following U.S. Strikes in Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, in early trading on Wednesday, U.S. oil prices jumped 3% after the U.S. military conducted several strikes targeting areas in southern Iran. This latest escalation in regional tensions has intensified worries about a collapse of the ceasefire.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil saw a rise of $1.95, or 2.8%, reaching $72.39 per barrel. This follows a similar 2.8% increase in WTI prices reported yesterday.
The United States carried out dozens of strikes against various positions in southern Iran today. In response to what it termed the U.S. military’s aggression against Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement declaring that its naval and aerospace forces, through a joint missile and drone operation, struck 85 key U.S. military installations. These targets included Salman Port, the Fifth Naval District in Bahrain, and Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. The IRGC also announced the downing of an enemy MQ-9 drone that attempted to interfere with the operation.
