Ghana Launches First Air Quality Sensor Lending Library in July

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ghana is preparing to inaugurate the first air quality sensor lending library in July. This initiative, as reported by TV BRICS citing Mehr News Agency, seeks to broaden public access to air pollution measurement tools and strengthen environmental data gathering within the country and the wider West African region.
The program will enable citizens, local community groups, and organizations to borrow calibrated sensors. These can then be deployed in designated areas to collect vital air quality information. Experts indicate that the final preparations for this facility are nearing completion, with over 100 standard sensors already prepared for deployment and use.
This undertaking is expected to significantly boost air quality monitoring capabilities in the region, providing reliable data essential for evidence-based policymaking and the improvement of environmental governance. The sensors will record real-time air quality data, empowering users with precise environmental condition awareness for informed decision-making in their living environments.
Furthermore, specialists note that the implementation of this project will assist local authorities in identifying pollution hotspots and developing more targeted strategies for their mitigation.
