Pakistan Urges Restraint from Iran and US Amid Hormuz Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan‘s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Thursday, urging Iran and the United States to exercise maximum restraint following recent escalations by Washington against Tehran and what it described as illegal incursions into Iranian territory. The ministry expressed hope for a return to normalcy in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the importance of maritime safety and security.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry’s statement underscored that dialogue and diplomacy are indispensable for achieving shared goals of peace and stability. It asserted that all disputes should be resolved through negotiations. The statement also highlighted the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran and Washington as a robust framework for fostering peace and mutual respect. Despite the challenges facing this memorandum, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to encouraging all parties to cease hostilities and resume technical discussions.
These calls for de-escalation come in the wake of two previous incursions and sporadic attacks by the United States on Iranian soil, which occurred amidst indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington. These actions have led to perceptions that Washington may not be genuinely committed to dialogue.
