Two Tankers Explode and Catch Fire After Breaching Mined Area in Strait of Hormuz

Two oil tanker vessels detonated and caught fire extensively after attempting to navigate a mined shipping lane in the southern Strait of Hormuz, according to an announcement by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC stated that the tankers were deceived by American intelligence agencies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a statement detailing an incident in which two oil tanker vessels exploded and caught fire in the southern Strait of Hormuz after passing through a mined area. The IRGC’s announcement, designated as Statement No. 26, indicated that the tankers were allegedly lured into the mined path by American intelligence organizations.

The statement, beginning with religious verses, addressed the “heroic and insightful nation of Islamic Iran,” emphasizing the public’s presence and street-level “epic-making” as a source of strength for the nation’s fighters. It then described the incident, stating that “moments ago, two oil tanker vessels, attempting to pass through the mined area south of the Strait of Hormuz under the deception of American intelligence agencies, exploded and caught fire extensively.”

The IRGC’s Navy asserted with “firmness” that the Strait of Hormuz is “severely insecure and completely closed” due to the “malice of the child-killing American army.” The statement further warned that “as long as the transgressions of criminal America do not end, there is no possibility of exporting chemical fertilizers, or even a single drop of oil and gas from this region.”

The IRGC urged vessels to “not be deceived and to not enter the mined path” in order to protect their assets and, more importantly, their lives.
