IAEA Investigates Reported Attack on Dar Khovin Nuclear Power Plant Construction Site in Iran

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is investigating reports of a nighttime attack on the construction site of a nuclear power plant in Iran, stating that the facility was in its early stages of development and contained no nuclear material during its last inspection.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Sunday that it is reviewing reports concerning a nighttime attack on the construction site of a nuclear power plant in Iran. In a statement released by the IAEA, it was noted that the facility was in the preliminary stages of construction and did not contain any nuclear material during the agency’s last visit. The IAEA added that it has also been in contact with Iran regarding the published reports of yesterday’s attack on a nuclear power plant.

Previously, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran issued a statement condemning the U.S. regime’s “terrorist attack” on the Dar Khovin nuclear power plant construction site. The statement from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, condemning the U.S. regime’s terrorist attack on the under-construction Dar Khovin nuclear power plant site, detailed the incident. It read: “The criminal and terrorist regime of the United States, characterized by bullying and lawlessness, committed an aggressive and brutal act in violation of international law. On Sunday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 3:39 AM local time, it attacked the construction site of the Dar Khovin power plant – a symbol of the scientific pride and self-sufficiency of the Iranian nation – with several projectiles.”

The statement continued, “This unjustifiable terrorist act, aimed at obstructing the path of progress and independence of Islamic Iran, is not only a flagrant violation of international law and the national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran but also a direct attack on the achievements of young Iranian specialists and scientists who are implementing a national project relying on indigenous knowledge and domestic capabilities.”
