Two Greek Ships Targeted Near Oman, Fire Erupts

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, two vessels managed by the Greek shipping company Dynacom Tankers were targeted by projectiles of unknown origin while navigating the coastal waters of Oman on Monday. These incidents raise renewed concerns about commercial shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz, amidst escalating tensions in the region.

The company confirmed that the oil tanker ‘Kavomaleas,’ a Panamax-sized vessel flagged under Malta, sustained damage from two projectile impacts, resulting in a fire in its engine room. The crew was subsequently forced to abandon the ship.

In a statement, Dynacom Tankers explained that after activating the vessel’s onboard firefighting systems, the captain made the decision to evacuate the ship. The company added that all crew members were safely rescued by Omani authorities and transferred ashore. Dynacom Tankers is maintaining close contact with all relevant regional officials.

A second Greek shipping company vessel, ‘Achelous,’ flying the flag of Liberia, was also struck by a missile while traversing the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway whose facilitation has been claimed by the United States.
