Israel Expresses Concern Over US-Saudi Nuclear Deal
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen, indicates that the impending nuclear agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia, which would permit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to employ American technology for uranium enrichment and the development of nuclear reactors, has generated concern in the occupied territories.
While U.S. President Donald Trump has linked the implementation of this agreement to the progress in normalizing relations between Saudi Arabia and the Israeli regime, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli ministers of war and foreign affairs have not yet commented on the matter.
Nevertheless, Naftali Bennett, the former prime minister of the Israeli regime and a rival to Netanyahu in the upcoming elections in the occupied territories, stated that the nuclear deal, which is being finalized with Saudi Arabia without Tel Aviv’s knowledge, represents a dangerous strategic failure that jeopardizes the security of the Israeli regime.
He added that uranium enrichment on Saudi soil could lead to a nuclear competition in the region and a significant loss of control over the situation.
Avigdor Lieberman, the former defense minister of the Israeli regime, also commented that a civilian nuclear program in Saudi Arabia would ultimately lead to the acquisition of nuclear weapons and trigger a mad arms race across the Middle East.
He urged that Israel, which possesses the region’s sole nuclear arsenal, must oppose this agreement and pressure Congress to prevent its approval.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli regime, possessing hundreds of nuclear bombs, has never adhered to international treaties concerning nuclear non-proliferation, and its atomic facilities have never been subject to international inspections.
Conversely, former Israeli war minister Benny Gantz stated that no security official can assert that introducing civilian nuclear capabilities to Saudi Arabia, without linking this move to the establishment of a regional coalition with Tel Aviv, is in the interest of Israel’s security.
