Persian Gulf Nations and Jordan Condemn Iranian Missile Strikes, Call for UN Action
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Persian Gulf states and Jordan have jointly issued a statement denouncing Iran‘s missile attacks against American military positions and interests in regional countries as a blatant transgression. The statement asserted that these attacks violate the United Nations Charter and international laws.
These nations, despite providing their territorial land and airspace for what they described as illegitimate U.S. aggression against Iran, and remaining silent on the alleged anti-humanitarian crimes committed by the U.S. terrorist army and the Zionist regime against women, children, and civilians, as well as the destruction of Iranian infrastructure over the past five months, stressed in their joint communiqué their right to individual or collective self-defense and to adopt legal measures to protect their sovereignty.
Referring to the developments in Iraq and the Iraqi government’s support for disarming resistance groups, these countries announced their welcome of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s decision to limit weapons in the government’s possession and emphasized their support for his government’s actions.
The Arab nations of the region, without referencing U.S. attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran, called on the UN Security Council to issue an urgent resolution demanding the immediate cessation of Iran’s alleged transgressions.
These nations, having previously failed in their efforts to pass anti-Iranian resolutions in international forums, the Security Council, and the United Nations, urged the Security Council to recognize the right of countries affected by Iranian aggressions to defend themselves.
The Persian Gulf states affirmed their commitment to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, and to maintaining regional security. They stated their readiness to cooperate with all regional countries and the International Maritime Organization to coordinate measures in accordance with international laws.
The Persian Gulf states and Jordan, referring to the blockade imposed by the Yemeni armed forces against the Saudi aggressors, which follows several years of illegal blockade of Yemen by Saudi Arabia, emphasized their solidarity with Saudi Arabia and their support for the actions taken by the country to preserve its sovereignty and security.
The statement announced appreciation for the diplomatic efforts of Saudi Arabia and Oman in achieving a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Yemen.
