Trump Claims Iranian Assets Will Cover Ship Damage Costs
U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that any damages incurred by vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, along with their cargo, will be compensated from Iran’s assets held in the United States. He described this potential measure as a ‘fair action’.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that any damages to ships, their commercial cargo, or related assets in the Strait of Hormuz will be compensated from Iran’s assets in the United States.
Trump stated that the damages to the vessels could be substantial and asserted that compensating these losses from Iranian assets would be a ‘fair action’.
In a bid to ensure freedom of navigation and keep the Strait of Hormuz open, Trump has escalated the U.S. military presence in the region. However, facing pressure due to the inability to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and a renewed surge in oil prices, he is reportedly making unsubstantiated statements out of desperation.
