Yemen Demands End to Siege, Citing Saudi Military Failures

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Yemeni Ministry of Defense official stated in a conversation with Saba news agency that recent statements from the Saudi ministries of defense and foreign affairs are an attempt to cover up the failure of their systems to detect Yemeni drones. The official indicated that Yemen has exercised patience in recent years, despite repeated violations by Saudi Arabia during a period of de-escalation.

The source emphasized that Saudi Arabia must respect Yemen’s sovereignty and independence and accept responsibility for the consequences of any violations it commits. Furthermore, the official urged Saudi Arabia to end the siege on the Yemeni people by reopening airports and ports and facilitating trade. The source concluded by calling for the release of prisoners, respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, and enabling the Yemeni people to utilize their country’s resources and wealth to pay salaries and provide services.

Meanwhile, a member of the Ansarallah movement, Zayd Allah Al-Shami, commented that recent statements from Saudi officials reflect the country’s confusion following the Yemeni armed forces’ attacks on Jizan and Yanbu. Al-Shami asserted that Saudi Arabia’s accusations against Iran and other parties are an attempt to evade its responsibility for the blockade on Yemen. He further described Saudi claims that attacks on its oil facilities originated from Iraq as a futile effort to pressure the Iraqi government regarding the issue of resistance group weaponry, aligning with the United States’ approach and mirroring developments in Lebanon.
