Russia Warns Armenia of Economic Crisis if It Exits Eurasian Economic Union
Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service has cautioned Armenia that exiting the Eurasian Economic Union would plunge the nation into a profound economic crisis, with European countries indicating reluctance to open their markets to Armenian goods at the expense of their national producers.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service issued a statement on Tuesday, warning that Armenia would face a crisis if it withdraws from the Eurasian Economic Union. The statement, citing Sputnik news agency, emphasized that European capitals are aware of this potential outcome.
The intelligence service indicated that Brussels understands that Yerevan’s departure from the Eurasian Economic Union would inevitably lead to a severe economic downturn for Armenia. This warning comes as several European nations, led by the European Union, have previously signaled their unwillingness to open their markets to Armenian products in a way that would harm their domestic industries.
