Ukraine Strikes Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant’s Connection Point, Russia Reports

Russia’s state nuclear corporation reported that Ukrainian forces targeted the connection point of all units at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant with an attack drone, raising concerns about external power supply stability. The situation remains tense in the nearby city of Enerhodar.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia’s state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, announced on Sunday that Ukrainian attacks on Enerhodar and the vicinity of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant are ongoing daily. Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, stated that a Ukrainian attack drone struck the connection corridor for all units of the Zaporizhzhia plant early Sunday morning, highlighting concerns over the plant’s external power supply instability. The situation in Enerhodar is described as highly tense.

Likhachev also reported that since April 27, Ukrainian attacks in Enerhodar have resulted in the deaths of 15 civilians and injured 51 others. He expressed hope that Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, would personally assess the situation in Enerhodar and at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in the near future.

Following the drone attack, Likhachev confirmed that radiation levels remain normal. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant also issued a statement confirming that all safety parameters are under control and radiation levels have not exceeded normal limits after the strike by Ukrainian armed forces. The plant warned that Ukrainian attacks in the direct vicinity of critical facilities pose risks to nuclear safety.
