Nikol Pashinyan Reappointed as Armenia’s Prime Minister

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian reappointed Nikol Pashinyan as the country’s prime minister on Sunday. The announcement was made based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, quoting the Anadolu Agency.

In an order published on the presidential website, Khachaturian stated, “Pursuant to Article 149, Section 1 of the Constitution, Nikol Pashinyan is appointed as Prime Minister.”

Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party secured a victory in the Armenian parliamentary elections held in June, paving the way for his continuation in the role for another term. Following the formation of the new National Assembly, the government had resigned, with the current cabinet continuing in a caretaker capacity until a new government was formed.

Pashinyan had previously announced that his party would nominate its candidate for the prime ministerial post to President Khachaturian. He was widely anticipated to lead the next government himself.
