Pakistan Invites Iranian Foreign Minister to Visit Islamabad

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced on Monday that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, spoke with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, about regional and international developments.

A statement issued by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the Foreign Minister invited Araghchi to visit Pakistan at the earliest opportunity. The statement did not specify the agenda for the proposed visit.

Sources had previously reported that Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, was expected to travel to Tehran within one to two days to discuss matters related to the revival of negotiations between Iran and the United States. These sources suggested that positive developments regarding the resumption of direct talks could be anticipated this week, following communication exchanges between the parties through intermediaries aimed at reviving negotiations based on the ‘Islamabad Understanding’.
