Yemen Rejects Mecca Pact, Warns Allies Against Saudi Aggression
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yemen‘s Supreme Political Council Chairman, Mahdi al-Mashat, has responded critically to the Mecca agreement, stating that such accords are not retroactive and the policy of blockade for blockade will continue until its objectives are met. He emphasized that these agreements have no effect on the current situation, and the equation of blockade for blockade will remain in place until its goals are achieved.
Al-Mashat issued a stern warning to the leaders of Pakistan and Turkey, declaring that any entity participating in the Saudi aggressions and the twelve-year-long blockade against Yemen will be considered an aggressor, irrespective of any misleading labels used to conceal such involvement.
Addressing the Saudi rulers, he stated that mobilizing the entire world would be of no use to them, highlighting that the cost of just and honorable peace and good neighborliness is far less than that of war and aggression.
Mohammed al-Fahs, a member of the Ansar Allah political bureau, commented that Yemen will continue to break the siege, regardless of the alliances formed against them. He expressed hope that Turkey, Pakistan, and other Islamic countries would not become political cover for any aggression, blockade, or violation of the sovereignty of a Muslim nation. He called upon Islamic countries to refrain from supporting aggressors and instead pressure them to cease their actions.
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that no regional or global bloc can confiscate the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people. It further stated that any Islamic bloc that does not prioritize the Palestinian issue is serving the enemies of the nation and is doomed to failure.
In its statement, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry asserted that Yemen has made its decision and will pursue its legitimate rights, regardless of the challenges. It advised the Saudi regime that instead of struggling to escape the quagmire it is caught in, it would be better to focus on ending the blockade and all acts of aggression in Yemen. The ministry suggested that Saudi Arabia should instead form alliances to support the oppressed Palestinian people and defend Al-Aqsa Mosque against the Zionist enemy. It concluded by stating that seeking support and squandering the wealth of the Two Holy Mosques will not grant the Saudi regime immunity from the crimes it has committed in Yemen.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry underscored that failing to secure their legitimate rights would lead to degradation and humiliation, which Yemenis will not accept.
It is noteworthy that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed a joint defense agreement, dubbed the Mecca Pact, on Friday, August 7, 2026.
