Turkey Restricts Black Sea Ship Traffic Amid Drone Attacks, Bloomberg Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkey has begun limiting the passage of commercial ships through the Dardanelles Strait to the Black Sea, a move reportedly prompted by a rise in drone attacks, Bloomberg reported, citing informed sources. The Turkish Coast Guard has allegedly denied passage to some vessels bound for Novorossiysk, Russia, or requested extended waiting times for transit applications through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits.

These restrictions arrive at a critical juncture for global trade, which has already faced significant disruptions due to the impact on oil supply stemming from the United States’ incursions into Iranian territory. Further complications may arise from reduced shipping volumes through the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington has described as being rendered unsafe. Ankara has not yet issued an official statement regarding these developments.
