Ukraine Claims Downing 111 Russian Drones Overnight Amid Escalating Conflict

Ukraine’s air force reported intercepting 111 out of 133 Russian drones launched overnight, while Russia confirmed drone attacks causing fires in southwestern Russia and a separate missile strike resulting in casualties in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ukraine‘s air force has claimed to have successfully downed 111 Russian drones out of 133 that were deployed overnight to target various areas across the country. This claim was reported by Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera.

In parallel developments, Reuters, quoting a Russian official, reported that a Ukrainian drone attack ignited a fire in an industrial zone in Bashkortostan, located in southwestern Russia. Concurrently, the head of the military administration of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region announced that Russian attacks in the area led to one fatality and three injuries.

Reuters also reported, based on Ukrainian officials, that fires occurred at the port of Izmail in the southwestern part of the country following Russian strikes. These escalations occur as the Russian military maintains its stated objective of advancing its operations against Kyiv, having reportedly attacked several port infrastructures and vessels utilized by Ukraine’s armed forces on Wednesday.
