Iran Cites Terrorist Act After Ukraine Attack on Caspian Vessel

Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, has declared an attack by Ukraine on an Iranian civilian vessel in the Caspian Sea a ‘terrorist act,’ demanding compensation and accountability from Kyiv and its Western allies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran‘s Ambassador to Moscow, Kazem Jalali, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that Tehran considers Ukraine’s attack on its vessel in the Caspian Sea to be a terrorist act.

The Iranian envoy emphasized that the incident involved a deliberate strike on a civilian ship flying the Iranian flag and carrying commercial cargo, characterizing it as a terrorist and criminal act that resulted in one fatality and several injuries.

Jalali further noted that Andriy Sybiha, acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister, had apologized for the incident during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

However, the ambassador stressed that Ukraine must compensate for all damages incurred. He also called upon Ukraine’s “European and American supporters” to accept responsibility for Kyiv’s actions and hold the country accountable for its conduct.

Jalali asserted that Western nations employ double standards concerning attacks on civilian targets, maintaining that their approach to such incidents is political and selective.
