Iraq Declares September 30th a Historic Turning Point Amid Coalition Withdrawal

Baghdad has designated September 30th as a pivotal historical juncture, marking the definitive end of the international coalition’s mission and the commencement of a new era focused on reinforcing national sovereignty and stability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sabah Al-Numani, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, announced that September 30th represents a strategic milestone and a historic transformation for contemporary Iraq. He emphasized that this date signifies the natural conclusion of an extended period of resistance and sacrifice, ushering in a new operational phase dedicated to strengthening the nation’s sovereignty and stability. The decision to set this date for the withdrawal of international coalition forces and the cessation of their mission was not arbitrary but was firmly grounded in the field assessment of the full readiness of the armed forces and security agencies across all sectors. These forces have demonstrated their robust capability in securing regions, neutralizing threats, and independently and effectively managing Iraq’s national security portfolio.

Al-Numani further stated that achieving this significant moment in the journey towards national sovereignty is the culmination of Iraqi lives and the immense sacrifices made by the country’s heroic forces. These efforts have paved the way for security stability, the preservation of Iraq’s dignity, and the enhancement of its standing. He highlighted Iraq’s success in proving itself as a bulwark against terrorist designs, urging the international community to recognize with profound respect and gratitude the nation’s historical and courageous role in defeating terrorist groups and preventing the escalation of terrorism’s threat regionally and globally.

The spokesperson underscored that with the complete withdrawal of coalition forces, a new and solidified chapter will open in bilateral relations and the development of security, economic, and educational cooperation. These future relationships will be built upon mutual respect and shared interests, operating within the framework of full national sovereignty and Iraq’s independent decision-making, thereby bolstering the government’s authority and safeguarding the resources and interests of the Iraqi people.
