Pakistan Army Chief Discusses Regional Security with Trump Ahead of Tehran Visit
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Reuters has reported, citing informed sources, that Pakistan‘s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump via telephone before embarking on his journey to Tehran. The report, originally published by Mehr News Agency, indicates the call took place before Munir’s departure.
Ismail Baqai, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed General Munir’s upcoming visit to Tehran in a statement to reporters yesterday. Baqai elaborated that Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to arrive in Tehran today, Monday, leading an official delegation.
The spokesperson further clarified that the visit is intended to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan. It also aligns with Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to contribute to peace and security in the region. During his trip, General Asim Munir is scheduled to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials.
