US Public Support for Iran War Plummets to Record Low, Poll Reveals

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, results published by Mehr News Agency, citing Reuters, reveal that the level of American support for the sustained conflict with Iran has reached its lowest ebb since the engagement commenced, declining to 31 percent. This figure stood at 37 percent in March and 34 percent at the beginning of the current month.

A poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos attributed this decrease to a noticeable drop in Republican support for the war. Among Trump’s supporters, only 69 percent approve of continuing military operations, a decline from 77 percent in March.

Concurrently, Trump is reportedly concerned about the impact of the war’s consequences on his public image, as worries about the conflict’s protracted nature are growing, with 83 percent of Americans believing the war will continue for an extended period.

These statistics emerge as the Trump administration grapples with escalating pressure over rising gasoline prices. This issue has imposed a considerable economic burden on Republican allies preparing for the November midterm elections, particularly as independent voters, by a margin of 33 percent to 19 percent, prefer Democrats over Republicans in congressional elections.

The report further states that the ongoing de facto blockade of oil exports from the region is keeping fuel prices high, posing a threat of increased economic pressure on the U.S. administration on the eve of the elections.

According to the report, Trump’s popularity has been on a downward trend since his return to power in 2025, a decline that accelerated following the war initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28.

The survey, conducted between August 14 and 17, indicates that Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 33 percent, the lowest point in his current presidential term. Other key polls also show a sharp decline in his popularity.
