Lebanese General: Iran Will Not Abandon Hezbollah Support

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, retired Lebanese Brigadier General and military and strategic affairs expert Yarab Sakhr asserted that Tehran continues to hold significant regional assets, most notably its allies. Sakhr, known for his anti-Iran and anti-Hezbollah stances, commented on the ambiguity of the U.S. approach toward Iran, which includes options such as military pressure, negotiation, intensified sanctions, and blockade.

He suggested that a blockade is unlikely to lead to regime change, given Tehran’s extensive land borders and its relationships with several neighboring countries. Regarding the future of Iran-Hezbollah relations, Sakhr stated that past experience indicates Tehran may be willing to make concessions on certain issues but will not readily abandon its regional allies. He elaborated that the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen, the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, and Hezbollah in Lebanon constitute Iran’s advanced defense lines for securing its regional interests. Sakhr added that Hezbollah holds a special position within the Axis of Resistance due to its vital importance for access to the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Lebanese expert, without referencing the Lebanese government’s inaction regarding the situation in southern Lebanon, observed that the Israeli regime has recently significantly expanded its control within Lebanese territories. He indicated that Tel Aviv previously controlled only five points in the south but, by his assessment, now directly controls approximately 700 square kilometers, with other areas also subject to its fire.

The Lebanese general, implicitly justifying the Israeli regime’s occupation in Lebanon, suggested that Tel Aviv is attempting to establish buffer or security zones in Lebanon, similar to other regions, in an effort to reduce security risks along its borders.
