Israel Vows to Maintain Military Presence in Syrian Golan Heights

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli War Minister Yisrael Katz announced on Monday during a visit to areas in southern Syria that the Israeli army will not vacate what it calls its “buffer zone” in the region. He asserted that Israel’s military presence would persist as long as threats to the nation exist.

Katz stated, “We will not move from Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh) and the security zone as long as there are threats against Israel.” He directed a clear message towards the Syrian President, saying, “When you wake up in the morning in the Damascus palace and look at Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh), and you see the Israeli army, you know that we are here to defend our communities and our borders.”

Referring to a recent airstrike on a Syrian airbase, Katz added, “Israel acted against Turkey’s attempt to deploy in Syria, as it endangered Israel’s security interests. We made this clear and will continue to adhere to it in the future.”
