Iraq to Fully Close Al-Hol Camp in Syria

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displaced Affairs has confirmed plans for the complete closure of the Al-Hol camp located in northeastern Syria. Karim Al-Nouri, the Deputy Minister of Migration and Displaced Affairs, described the camp as a “ticking time bomb” that Iraq has successfully defused.

Al-Nouri stated that the number of Iraqi refugees still residing in Al-Hol is approximately 1,200 individuals, a significantly reduced figure. He highlighted the successful repatriation of 21,000 people to their original homes, emphasizing that no security breaches have been recorded in the areas they returned to. This, he noted, demonstrates Iraq’s success in their social and psychological rehabilitation.

The Iraqi official reiterated that the Al-Hol camp dossier will be fully closed in the near future.
