Reuters Claims US Officials Met with Yemen’s Houthi Representatives in Oman

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Reuters has claimed, citing five informed sources, that American officials met with representatives of Yemen‘s Houthi movement in Oman over the past weekend. Three of the sources alleged that the meeting, which had not been previously announced, took place at the U.S. Embassy in Muscat. Two other sources indicated that the Omani government, which has long served as a regional mediator, played a role in organizing the session.

According to two sources, during this meeting, which one source dated to Sunday, Yemen’s Houthi representatives informed U.S. officials of their intention not to attack American vessels and their commitment to a 2025 ceasefire with the United States. One source stated that the group announced it would only target ships belonging to Saudi Arabia.

Based on statements from two sources, the American side was represented by staff from the U.S. Embassy in Muscat during the meeting. Yemeni fighters last week gained effective control over the entire Red Sea coast of Yemen, including the port of Al-Mukha and the island of Perim in the Bab el-Mandeb strait at the entrance to the waterway.

Reports indicate that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia contacted Donald Trump last week amid extensive Houthi advances, requesting U.S. military support. Reuters had previously reported that Washington informed Riyadh it would not directly enter the conflict.
