US Backs Saudi-Aligned Yemeni Faction Amid Escalating Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. has expressed support for the Saudi-aligned faction in Yemen, emphasizing its backing amidst what it described as escalating tensions with the Ansarullah movement. Afrah Al-Zouba, the Foreign Minister for the resigned government, held a phone conversation with Neil Happe, the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Aden, to discuss recent developments.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the resigned Yemeni government announced that Washington declared its support for this Saudi-aligned government in what it termed a confrontation with the escalating tensions caused by Ansarullah. The phone call also addressed developments along Yemen’s western coast and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as well as the consequences of heightened tensions on the security of Yemen, the region, and international shipping.
The U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, without referencing his country’s disruptive role in recent regional tensions, claimed that “Houthi [Ansarullah] attacks are condemned.” He asserted that these actions pose a threat to the security of Yemen, the region, and international navigation.
