Macron Highlights Oil Prices’ Impact on French Citizens, Seeks Supply Security

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France is working to secure oil supplies and ease fuel prices amid energy market tensions, acknowledging the direct impact of fluctuating oil prices on the lives of French citizens. He emphasized that increased oil availability translates to reduced dependence, enhanced security, and lower price pressures.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the country is striving to guarantee oil supplies and alleviate pressure on fuel prices amidst tensions affecting energy markets. Macron conveyed through a message on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that oil price surges at the pump directly impact the French population, stating, “When oil is under pressure, prices at the pump rise. I know what this situation means for the French people. More routes for oil means less dependence. Less dependence means more security, and more security means less pressure on prices.”

President Macron revealed that following discussions with Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, earlier in the week, he also engaged in conversations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani regarding the matter. He outlined key priorities, including reinstating freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, safeguarding partners’ energy infrastructure, and ensuring oil production. Macron underscored the critical importance of securing Paris’s supply sources and affirmed France’s collaboration with coalition partners to guarantee freedom of navigation in this strategic waterway. This statement comes in the context of past claims suggesting unimpeded transit through the Strait of Hormuz prior to certain unspecified ‘American-Zionist aggressions’ against Iran and the subsequent ‘insecurity’ of the strategic waterway.
