Russia’s Shoigu Accuses US and Europe of Seeking to Weaken Russia and Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, citing Sputnik News Agency, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu announced on Thursday that the United States and Europe are strategically interested in further weakening the positions of Russia and Iran in the South Caucasus.

The Russian Security Council Secretary continued, stating that the West intends to maximize threats against Russia in the Caucasus and isolate it from global processes in the region. He added that Russia’s adversaries spare no effort in creating hotbeds of tension along the country’s borders in the South Caucasus.

Sergei Shoigu further noted that the recent crisis in bilateral relations between Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was overcome through joint efforts. He also asserted that Russia would not finance Armenia’s convergence with the European Union.

He then added that Yerevan’s desire to expand cooperation with NATO is evident. Shoigu also pointed out that Yerevan is seizing companies in Armenia in which Russia has invested billions of dollars.
