Saudi Arabia Seeks Oman’s Aid for Yemen Ceasefire
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia has requested help from the Sultanate of Oman to convince the Ansar Allah movement and the Yemeni armed forces to agree to a ceasefire. This development, as reported by Al Mayadeen, indicates Riyadh’s efforts to de-escalate the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
A senior official revealed to Al Mayadeen that Riyadh has asked Muscat to urge Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement to consent to a two-week truce. The objective behind this proposed ceasefire is to create an opportunity to discuss solutions for the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen. Saudi Arabia has emphasized that an agreement concerning the humanitarian conditions in Yemen will be announced during the ceasefire period.
These diplomatic overtures occur amidst consistent statements from officials of the Ansar Allah movement and the Yemeni armed forces. They have repeatedly stressed that the country’s crisis should not be confined solely to humanitarian demands, asserting that all of Sana’a’s demands must be met for a comprehensive resolution.
