Egyptian President Sisi Discusses Regional Stability with CIA Director

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with CIA Director John Ratcliffe to discuss critical regional issues, including Sudan, the Horn of Africa, and international maritime security.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held discussions on Sunday with John Ratcliffe, the Director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), focusing on key regional matters. The meeting, also attended by Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Rachad, underscored Egypt’s commitment to fostering comprehensive agreements to resolve crises and restore security and stability across the region.

President Sisi emphasized Egypt’s unwavering support for efforts aimed at achieving a broad consensus to end regional conflicts, thereby reinforcing security and stability and safeguarding international maritime navigation. He reiterated Egypt’s steadfast position in backing the security and sovereignty of Arab nations and firmly opposing any aggression against them.

The Egyptian President also called for the political and diplomatic resolution of regional crises, advocating for a thorough examination of their root causes to preserve the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of all countries. Discussions also encompassed the developments concerning the Palestinian issue.

President Sisi highlighted the importance of fully implementing the second phase of the U.S. President’s plan to stabilize the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and expressed appreciation for the mediators’ endeavors to establish a roadmap for this phase. The crisis in Sudan was also a significant topic, with both leaders affirming Egypt’s support for Sudan’s unity and stability, and for the preservation of its legitimate national institutions.

Developments in the Horn of Africa were also addressed, with President Sisi reaffirming Egypt’s support for security and stability in Somalia and its opposition to any infringements on the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The CIA Director commended Egypt’s active role in promoting security and stability throughout Africa. He stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the relevant bodies of both countries, particularly concerning the crises in Sudan, the situation in Somalia, the Horn of Africa region, and international maritime security.

Furthermore, the CIA Director praised Egypt’s role in the Gaza ceasefire agreement and its efforts toward achieving peace and stability.
