Yemen’s Ansarullah Forces Advance Toward Saudi Border; Trump Abandons Planned Yemen Strikes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen‘s Ansarullah forces has significantly intensified in recent days, with the latter advancing closer to Saudi borders, thereby increasing the risk of direct ground confrontations between the two sides. This information is based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing a report from The New York Times.

The Ansarullah forces have reportedly made progress toward the Saudi city of Najran, engaging in fierce clashes with forces aligned with Riyadh. The New York Times further reported that U.S. President Donald Trump had been hesitant for weeks regarding Saudi Arabia’s requests for assistance in the Yemen war, with the situation reaching a critical point on Thursday.

U.S. administration officials stated that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia contacted President Trump, reiterating his call for intervention to curb the rapidly advancing Ansarullah group. Just one day prior, President Trump had met with his advisors and expressed his disapproval of potential strikes. However, following his conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince, he changed his stance and reportedly instructed the Pentagon to prepare for airstrikes against Yemen.

Nevertheless, by Sunday afternoon, the U.S. President appeared to have altered his position once more. According to U.S. administration officials, no American airstrikes against Yemen will be conducted at this time.
